The last week in February and the fig cuttings are looking strong and healthy in the glass houses of the Holkham Walled Garden. Tim Marshall, Head Gardener cautions though, '.. the bud is not necessarily meaning that they are rooted.'
The fig trees have been pruned back hard, '... perhaps a little enthusiastically', smiles Tim, 'but they were smothered in mealy bugs and will soon put out a new branch network.'
